How are sol, solution and suspension different from each other?

  1. Sol:
    • Sol is like a mix where tiny solid particles are floating around in a liquid.
    • They’re bigger than the particles in a solution but smaller than in a suspension.
    • They don’t settle down over time and are hard to see with just your eyes.
    • Examples: Ink, blood.
  2. Solution:
    • A solution is when something (like salt or sugar) is completely dissolved in a liquid, forming a clear mixture.
    • The particles in a solution are really tiny and you can’t see them.
    • They stay mixed up and won’t separate over time.
    • Examples: Saltwater, sugar water.
  3. Suspension:
    • Suspension is like when you have solid particles floating in a liquid or gas, but they’re bigger than in a sol.
    • You can see them easily and they might settle down if you leave the mixture alone.
    • Examples: Muddy water, sand in water, Italian salad dressing.
