The Central Nervous System (CNS) ð§ ðĶī is composed of two main components:
- Brain ð§ :
- Function: The control center of the body, responsible for processing sensory information, coordinating movement, thought, emotions, memory, and regulating bodily functions.
- Main Parts:
- Cerebrum: The largest part responsible for complex functions like thinking, memory, and voluntary actions.
- Cerebellum: Manages balance, coordination, and fine-tunes movements.
- Brainstem: Controls basic life functions such as heartbeat, breathing, and sleep cycles.
- Spinal Cord ðĶī:
- Function: A long, tubular structure that connects the brain to the rest of the body, acting as a major pathway for transmitting signals between the brain and peripheral nervous system.
- Role: Carries sensory information from the body to the brain and motor commands from the brain to the body. It also coordinates reflex actions.
Together, the brain and spinal cord form the CNS, which is responsible for integrating information, making decisions, and directing responses throughout the body!
